The Tashahhud, also known as At-Tahiyyat, is a crucial part of the Islamic prayer (Salah). It is recited in the final sitting of every unit (Rak'ah) of prayer. The Tashahhud is a beautiful supplication where Muslims praise and acknowledge the greatness of Allah and send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The full text of the Tashahhud is as follows:
Transliteration: At-tahiyyātu lillāhi waṣ-ṣalawātu waṭ-ṭayyibātu, as-salāmu ʿalayka ayyuhannabiyyu wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh, as-salāmu ʿalaynā wa ʿalā ʿibādillāhi ṣ-ṣāliḥīn, ash-hadu allā ilāha illallāh, wa ash-hadu anna Muḥammadan ʿabduhu wa rasūluh.
Translation: All compliments, prayers, and pure words are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and all the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.
The Tashahhud is a beautiful reflection of a Muslim's submission and devotion to Allah, as well as their love and respect for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is recited with humility and sincerity during the prayer, serving as a means of connection with the divine and a source of spiritual nourishment.
