The last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah are known as Ayat Al-Kursi.
Ayat Al-Kursi is a highly revered and significant verse of the Quran. It is found in Surah Al-Baqarah, Chapter 2, Verses 255. This verse, also known as the Throne Verse, describes the greatness and the all-encompassing knowledge of Allah (God) and His dominion over the heavens and the earth.
Here is the translation of Ayat Al-Kursi:
"Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great." (Quran 2:255)
This verse highlights the concept of Allah's oneness, His attributes, and His sovereignty over the universe. It asserts that Allah is the only true deity, the Ever-Living, and the sustainer of all existence. He does not experience fatigue or sleep, unlike humans. Allah possesses complete knowledge of everything that has happened and will happen. No one can intercede with Him except by His permission, and His dominion extends over the heavens and the earth.
Ayat Al-Kursi is often recited for its numerous spiritual and protective benefits. It is considered a powerful supplication to seek Allah's protection and blessings. Muslims frequently recite it after their daily prayers and before going to sleep. The verse is highly regarded and holds great significance in the hearts and minds of Muslims worldwide.
